Information on registration form for the VSM Alumni community
pursuant to article 13 of regulation (EU) 2016/679
Ca' Foscari University of Venice (“University”), in accordance with its institutional purposes and in compliance with the obligations set forth in article 13 of Regulation (EU) 2016/679 (“Regulation”), provides you with information regarding the processing of personal data you provide through the VSM Alumni community registration form (promoted by the Venice School of Management).
1) Data controller
The Data controller is Ca’ Foscari University of Venice, located at Dorsoduro no. 3246, 30123 Venice (VE), Italy, represented by the Rector.
2) Data Protection Officer

3) Categories of personal data, purposes, and legal basis for processing
The processing involves the collection of the following personal data:
- personal identification data (including tax code)
- contact details (personal or professional email address)
- educational background and career-related information
- expectations and ideas that may be realized within the VSM Alumni community
The purpose of data processing is to manage membership registration for the VSM Alumni community, which offers exclusive opportunities to its members.
The legal basis for this processing is article 6.1.e) of the Regulation (“performance of a task carried out in the public interest”).
You may object to the processing at any time by writing to the Data Protection Officer at the contact details provided above. The University will refrain from further processing your personal data, unless compelling legitimate reasons justify its continuation.
Additionally, through the registration form, you will be asked whether you wish to subscribe to the VSM newsletter to receive updates on VSM and VSM Alumni initiatives. The processing of personal data is conducted in accordance with the principles of fairness, lawfulness, and transparency, ensuring the confidentiality and rights of the data subject, as well as compliance with the principles outlined in Article 5 of the Regulation.
4) Processing methods
Personal data processing will be carried out by University employees and collaborators who act based on specific instructions regarding the purposes and methods of processing (in compliance with article 29 of the Regulation and article 2-quaterdecies of Legislative Decree no. 196/2003).
Data processing may involve computerized procedures, implementing technical and organizational security measures to protect the data from unauthorized or unlawful access, destruction, loss of integrity and confidentiality, including accidental loss.
5) Data retention period
The data will be retained as long as you remain a member of the VSM Alumni community.
6) Data recipients and categories of recipients
For the purposes stated above, in addition to University employees and authorized collaborators, external entities performing outsourced activities on behalf of the University may process personal data as Data Processors.
An updated list of the Data Processors appointed by the University is available at this webpage unive.it/pag/36643. In particular, for the management of VSM Alumni community registrations, the University uses the service provider Salesforce Inc.
7) Transfer of data outside the European economic area
The processing activities carried out by the service provider Salesforce Inc. involve the transfer of data to third countries, specifically the United States.
Salesforce.org has been appointed as a Data Processor by the University and has signed the standard contractual clauses, ensuring adequate safeguards for data protection.
8) Data provision
Providing personal data is necessary to join the VSM Alumni community.
9) Data subject rights and how to exercise them
As a data subject, you have the right to obtain from the University, in accordance with the Regulation, the following rights:
- access to personal data
- rectification, integration, or deletion of data
- restriction of processing
- objection to processing
(Articles 15 and following of the Regulation).
Requests can be submitted without formalities, by directly contacting the Data Protection Officer or the Data Controller at the contact details provided above.
If you believe that the processing of your personal data violates the Regulation, you also have the right to:
- file a complaint with the Data Protection Authority (Article 77 of the Regulation)
- seek legal remedies (Article 79 of the Regulation)
