Language courses
French, Spanish, German

The degree program aims at linguistic competency equivalent to the B1 level in the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) in one European language chosen from French, Spanish, or German.
Students choose the language by including the course activity in the study plan.

Course structure and requirements

The course is made of the "main course", taught during the second year, and two "practice courses", taught during the first and second year, aimed at the achievement of the A2 and B1 linguistic competency level. Passing the practice course is required for passing the main course and earn the 12 credits.

French and German courses require a certified A1 linguistic competency level. Students might be exempted from passing the practice courses on the basis of their certified linguistic competency level.

Practice courses

Practice courses are taught by the University Language Centre (CLA), entirely online, from October to February, and they have a mandatory attendance requirement of 80% of the lectures.

You can find days and times of the courses on the courses webpage according to the chosen language.

If you have a recognized certification, you are considered eligible and do not need to take the practical module. In this case, you must submit the certification to the CLA (claonline@unive.it) for recognition before the registration deadline.

  • If CLA acknowledges you a A2 language level qualification, you only need to attend the B1 practice course in the second year
  • If CLA acknowledges you a B1 language level qualification, you are exempted from attending any practice courses.

Those without a recognized certification must take the placement test to determine their language proficiency level and the level course to attend.
Please note: the placement test result indicates the course to attend (not your level).

  • If the placement test confirms that you can attend the A2 level course, you are supposed to attend such a course in the first year and the B1 course in the second year.
  • If the placement test confirms that you can attend the B1 level course, then you are supposed to attend such a course in the second year.

Instructions for the placement test and enrollment:

  1. Register to ClaOnline
  2. Set your current level: If you have a language level qualification, you can upload it on ClaOnline (Menu > Activities > Carica certificazione), otherwise you can take the Placement Test. The outcome of the test certifies your current level and the best fitting course.
  3. Enrollment: send an email to claonline@unive.it
  4. Payment: the course is free. Please ignore any automatic communication about required payments. However, please reply to the first of such communications informing about your status as a student of the "Hospitality Innovation and E-Tourism” course.

The deadline having acknowledged your linguistic level certification and for enrolling in the practice courses is in late September. Students are informed by email or they can contact CLA.

For any further information please contact cla@unive.it or refer to University Language Centre (CLA) website.
