EDAMBA 2017
Annual Meeting & General Assembly - Building doctoral programs across boundaries
Venice, Italy

Disruptive changes at technological, environmental and economic level are posing major challenges to institutions, firms and their leaders: digital transformation and its multifaceted impact on employment, skills, organizations, or the increasing unequal distribution of resources and future opportunities across different ages, geographical area, social status. These trends are already showing their effects and are posing a great responsibility on management scholars, who have to find adequate theoretical models and methodological approaches for a responsible research, to better understand problems at different levels and illuminate sustainable and ethical solutions.

Doctoral programs in Management and Business Administration play a pivotal role, in developing a pool of young and inspired researchers who could contribute to address these major challenges either as academics or as leaders of research centers, private and public companies or consultant firms. Doctoral programs are thus induced to take steps to become an excellent learning environment to nurture a new generation of researchers, by crossing geographic boundaries through international networking, by creating opportunities for cross-fertilisation between disciplines and by exposing students to industry and public engagement. How could we build better doctoral programs crossing geographical and cultural boundaries through international collaborations? Which interdisciplinary teaching programs help to develop research projects that could grasp the new phenomena? Which institutions should doctoral programs collaborate with, to enrich the capacity of young scholars to raise the relevance of their research? These are the questions the National Assembly, held by Ca’ Foscari University, will addresses.

Venice, with the unique environment of the lagoon, its history of openness toward far reaching countries and its bridges connecting art and business within the city, it’s a perfect metaphor of the Assembly theme. Participants who belongs to different universities and lead high quality doctoral programs, members of Edamba, will share ideas and experiences, enjoying a spectacular venue. Keynotes speakers, will provide the insights to spark inspiring and fruitful discussions.
