Maurizio Massaro holds a Ph.D. in Managerial Sciences and a Degree in Business Administration from the University of Udine.

Before joining Ca’ Foscari, he served as Researcher and Director of the Master’s Program in Tourism Enhancement of Environmental and Cultural Heritage at the University of Udine.

He has also been Visiting Professor at Florida Gulf Coast University (USA) and University of Leicester (UK), and a doctoral committee member at George Washington University (USA).

At Ca’ Foscari, he currently serves as Research Delegate at the Venice School of Management, Coordinator of the Bachelor’s Degree in Digital Management (delivered in partnership with H-Farm), and Member of the PhD Teaching Board in Management. He is also part of the Sustainability Lab led by Professor Chiara Mio, a member of the Team Equis, and of the Teaching Board of the Postgraduate Master’s Degree in Strategy Innovation.

His research focuses on digital transformation, management control systems, business model innovation, blockchain and artificial intelligence applications, and corporate sustainability. He has authored or co-authored over one hundred scientific contributions, including articles in high-impact journals such as Accounting, Auditing & Accountability Journal, Technovation, Business Strategy and the Environment, and IEEE Transactions on Engineering Management. He is also author and editor of several international volumes, including Digital Business Models for Industry 4.0 (Springer, 2022) and the Research Handbook on Intellectual Capital and Business (Edward Elgar, 2021).

His publications have received more than 3,400 citations on Scopus (h-index 32) and over 6,800 citations on Google Scholar (h-index 40). Professor Massaro collaborates with several international research groups on blockchain and digital transformation, intellectual capital and knowledge management, and organizational innovation in healthcare, partnering with universities such as Macquarie University (Australia), Harvard University and the University of Florida (USA).

In 2022, he was awarded by the Department of Management for an innovative teaching project introducing digital learning tools, active learning methodologies, and AI-based educational approaches. His teaching and research activities aim to bridge academic rigor, technological innovation, and sustainability-driven management practices.
