Interdisciplinary perspectives on international migration: Policies, gender, cities, identity, climate

Aula Magna Silvio Trentin - Ca’ Dolfin (Calle de la Saoneria, Dorsoduro 3825/D, Venice) and online

28-29 November 2023
Contemporary international migration is shaped by an ever growing number of factors, from the impact of climate change to the increasing differentiation of labour flows, from the globalization of migration governance to the intensification of transnational diasporic networks. Not only have such dimensions created new migratory patterns and experiences but they have also given rise to a greater diversity of migrants in terms of age, gender, social class, provenance, etc.

Coordinated by migration experts from across different departments at Ca’ Foscari University, this conference will engage with current debates in migration studies through 5 thematic panels. The conference will feature three keynote addresses by Nira Yuval-Davis, University of East London; Andrew Geddes, European University Institute and Tabea Linhard, Washington University in St. Louis.

The main conference language will be English but each panel allows additional possibilities.

The conference is organized by Ca’ Foscari University of Venice in collaboration with Luis Beneduzi, Francesca Campomori, Sara De Vido, Nick Dines, Sabrina Marchetti, Francesco Vacchiano, Anna Benvegnù and Alice Morino Baquetto.

Registration is mandatory via the dedicated google form.
