The course is part of the Interdisciplinary [C] activities of the degree in Economics and Business
It aims to raise awareness of the economic characteristics of the agricultural sector, of the agricultural farms and of the adoptable agricultural policy measures, in light of the emerging concepts of sustainability and multifunctionality of agriculture, and of the evolutionary path and the current structure of the Community Agricultural Policy. Particular attention is paid to the study of the basic elements of agricultural economics, in which the configuration of the concepts of sustainability and multifunctionality of agriculture stands out; to the understanding of the main elements of economy of the farms; to the analysis of adoptable agricultural policies; to the study of the evolution and development of the Community Agricultural Policy.
1 Knowledge and Understanding.
1.1 Configuring the economic characteristics of the agricultural sector and of the farms.
1.2 Identifying suitable agricultural policy measures, in light of the emerging sustainability and multifunctional concepts of agriculture.
1.3 Representing the evolutionary path and the current structure of the Community Agricultural Policy.
2 Ability to apply knowledge and understanding.
2.1 Selecting correctly concepts and methods to make efficient decisions in the economy choices related to the agricultural sector and farms.
2.2 Constructing the most suitable agricultural policy measures according to the different economic-social objectives to be pursued.
2.3 Monitoring and highlighting the effects resulting from the implementation of the Community Agricultural Policy.
3. Capacity of judgment
3.1 Abstracting and interpreting the economic model related to agricultural economy and policy, explaining them critically.
3.2 Using of economic tools (graphs, models) to communicate and explain the economic agricultural phenomena and differentiating the effects of the agrarian policy measures on the markets,
3.3 Carrying out autonomously the study and the deepening of analysis of the ecomic-agrarian phenomena through research projects, the elaboration of essays and reports.
Mandatory priority Exams: none.
Prerequisites: basic skills in economics of Economics (micro and macro) and Mathematics (first module). Basic skills in demand and supply models and market forms.

For attending students, the exam takes place in presence in moodle.
The Test lasts sixteen minutes and consists of thirty multiple choice questions, with four alternatives each.
Every correct answer scores a point.
Bonus points can be added to the Test score, as agreed in class.
The first exam after the course is only for attending students.
For non-attending students, the exam consists of open questions and exercises.
The course is held with lectures.
The study can be carried out through the Moodle platform and the Teacher's Book.
