This is one of the elective courses within the China/Japan/Korea curricula of the Bachelor's Degree in "Lingue, Culture e Società dell'Asia e dell'Africa Mediterranea" (specialisation "economico-giuridico" / "interpretariato-traduzione" for China; specialisation "economico-giuridico" for Japan/Korea).
The course of "Principles of Economics and Management" has the primary goal of introducing the basic tools for understanding the discipline. More specifically, the objectives of the course are:
1. To introduce the basic concepts on the enterprise system and on the competitive environment in which it operates.
2. To analyze its strategic management, with particular regard to its organization, marketing, innovation, and sustainability.

-knowledge of basic terms of management and marketing,
-undestanding of key concepts of the enterprise system.
2. Applying knowledge and understanding:
-applying models and conceptual definition to managerial case studies.
3. Making judgements:
-evaluate critically the strategic actions of enterprises.
4. Communication skills:
-ability of interacting with peers and tutor in reflection on managerial and strategic features.
5. Learning skills:
-ability of elaborating contents of references,
-ability of consulting different forms of informative materials (i.e., books, articles, enterprises' websites, videos).

Compulsory book:
-Fontana, F., Caroli, M. (2017). Economia e gestione delle imprese (5th ed.). Milano: McGraw-Hill Education. Chapters from 1 to 7 are compulsory.

Online teaching material is the additional compulsory material in order to study for the final examination.

Optional and supplementary readings will be suggested during the course.
Testing is done through a written test, the same for attending and not attending students. The final test is composed by six questions with multiple answers and three questions with short answer, lasting 30 minutes. This examination can be supplemented by a partial evaluation through a classroom exercise and/or intermediate tests.
