In the CDS in chemistry and sustainable technologies, the course is considered as an in-depth study among the application themes of one of the most ancient sectors of the chemistry and in general of the human activities, that is the production of the coloring substances. In this context, the deepening of the topics related to the synthesis, and the application of pigments and dyes will be parallel to that of their application. It is therefore of interest for the students deepen the application part of his studies in relation to the knowledge of the basic methodologies in the preparation of paints, plastics, fibers and in general all materials in which the color is changed. The sustainability of modern productions of pigments and dyes will be compared with the traditional ones, and the new trends on high performance materials will be highlighted taking into account Efficiency, Ecology, Economics.

a) Basic knowledge of light, color and measurement systems.
b) Know the differences between pigments, dyes and their classification.
c) Synthesis of the main types of pigments and dyes.
d) Know the main types of paint products, dyeing of fibers and plastics.
2. Ability to apply knowledge and understanding
Dyeing of a fiber or preparation of a varnish
3. Ability to judge
Recognize where a pigment or dye type can be applied
4. Communication skills
