The aim of the course is to provide fundamental computational tools to implement notions from previous advanced courses statistics in the analysis of international markets dynamics.
With this objective, students will be introduced to the use of the dedicated software for macroeconomics real data.
Frontal lectures and laboratory will allow students:

1. Knowledge and understanding
1.1 to know the statistical models for the analysis of economic multivariate phenomena.

2. Ability to apply knowledge and understanding
2.1 to organize economic data related to international markets applying dedicated software

3. Making judgements
3.1 to apply critically the different procedures in international economic markets applying statistical software.
To have achieved the learning outcomes of basic Statistics. In particular, the student should master the concepts and methods related to basic inference and descriptive Statistics, that are p-value, confidence intervals, frequency distributions, main indices of a distribution and graphical representation.
Furthermore, the student has to achieved the concepts and methods related to Statistical Analysis of Markets, in particular the time series models, ARIMA.
1- Model diagnostics and hypothesis removing
2- Introduction to nonparametric models
3- Reporting and reproducible research
4- The data matrix, quantitative and qualitative data
5- Graphics and indexes as syntesis of the data matrix
-On-line materials
Fox J., Weisberg S., 2011, "An R Companion to Applied Regression, Second Edition" SAGE Publications, Inc, ch. 1, 6, appendix "Nonparametric Regression in R".
To assess the knowledge and skills acquired during the laboratory activity, a statistical analysis of the data will be presented by the student with the support of the same R program. The data will be collected by the student and agreed with the teacher.
In this phase, the skills of argumentative and critical analysis will be evaluated.
In particular, the exam aims to verify that the student has acquired the concepts presented during the lessons, is familiar with R software and may solve and present some practical problems.
Lectures will take place in computer lab, using software R.
Students must register for the moodle platform and computer will be required during the lessons.
