During the activities of laboratories and industrial plants, workers are subject to numerous risk factors deriving from machinery, equipment and systems, chemical exposure, physical and biological measures, and from the peculiarity of the work environments as well.
The course aims at describing either such main risk factors or the effects on safety and health; and the interventions for prevention, protection and emergency requested by the national and EU regulations.
The educational goals are reached through the acquisition of the necessary technical and scientific skills in the field of safety and prevention, and through the correct technical, organizational and managerial approach of the company.
Attendance and active participation in training activities and individual study will allow:
1. Knowledge and understanding
1.1. acquire knowledge about current legislation on health and safety in the workplace;
1.2. acquire the knowledge related to the organization of prevention and the prevention obligations of the subjects in charge of implementing the safety and health measures;
1.3. acquire the knowledge related to the contents of the Community Regulations in the field of chemical Reach (Reg. CE 1906/2007) and CLP (Reg. CE 1272/2008);
1.4. acquire knowledge on the dangers of chemical agents, carcinogens, mutagens, reproductive toxicants, teratogens and prevention and protection measures to be taken to eliminate and reduce work risks;
1.5. acquire knowledge on safety and health measures to be taken in laboratories and industrial plants;
1.6. acquire the knowledge related to the risk assessment activity of chemical, physical and biological agents

2. Ability to apply knowledge and understanding
2.1. know how to enforce the laws on health and safety in the workplace;
2.2. to know how to understand a safety organization chart and to identify the prevention obligations of the various subjects that constitute it;
2.3. to recognize the dangers and apply the appropriate security measures;
2.4. to know how to identify the characteristics of chemical agents and their classification for safety and health purposes;
2.5. to know how to understand the dangerous situations and the characteristics of exposure to chemical, physical and biological agents;
2.6. know how to identify the emergency prevention, protection and management measures deriving from risk assessment activities;
2.7. know how to adopt safe behavior in laboratories and in industrial plants;
2.8. know how to properly use the collective and individual protection devices characteristic of laboratories and plants.

3. Ability to judge
3.1. know how to carry out a risk assessment in laboratories and industrial plants;
3.2. to check the effectiveness of the prevention and protection measures adopted on the basis of the risk assessment of chemical, physical and biological agents;
3.3. know to check the validity of the emergency management measures to be adopted in laboratories and industrial plants.
