The course examines the impact of enterpreneurship on company strategies and on the creation of new businesses. We thus examine entrepreneurship under the dual perspective of start-up entrepreneurship and of corporate entrepreneurship.
Learning goals
Overarching course objective is to stimulate student interest in enterpreneurship and strategy. Specific objectives of this course are:
to provide an overview of enterpreneurship while highlighting some of the recent developments and directions.
to explore the impact of enterpreneurship on the economic and financial performance of the company
to sharpen students’ understanding of concepts, tools, and techniques applied in leading businesses across the world
to enhance students’ decision making skills, her/his ability to express ideas persuasively and to listen critically and respectfully to the ideas of classmates
to prepare you for a career where you will be able to operate comfortably in business functions in global companies.
to provide students the opportunity to analyze and solve complex problems in strategy and enterpreneurship through case discussions (Harvard Business School, INSEAD) and readings.
As per study plan (please consult detailed plan of studies)
Nearly everybody has dreamed of being an entrepreneur. Entrepreneurship clearly is mostly associated with start-up companies. Entrepreneurship, however, also takes place inside large, existing, bureaucratic organizations. In this course we will examine entrepreneurship under this dual perspective: we will look at successful entrepreneurial start-ups and examine which factors prospective entrepreneurs should consider when contemplating to set up their own business.
More importantly, we will also examine how entrepreneurship can develop and flourish inside established companies: we will examine the tools, the capabilities and the processes that prospective corporate entrepreneurs must master to successfully launch new businesses, new products and new ventures inside existing companies.
