The course is part of the curriculum of the "Languages, Cultures and Societies of Asia and Mediterranean Africa" curriculum. Its educational objectives fall within the area of learning cultural and humanistic skills.
The course aims to offer an introduction to the literature of Southeast Asia in order to instill in students an appreciation for the rich cultural heritages and traditions emanating from this region of the world.
Knowledge and understanding:
- know and understand the political, cultural and social contexts of important works of literature of Southeast Asia
- acquire awareness of the methodology of literary research
- acquire the tools to deepen appreciation of the literature analyzed in the course also in other courses of the CdS from other points of view (eg literary)

Introduction to the literature of Southeast Asia, with an emphasis on the modern period
Particular attention will be paid to the great cultural, social and political transformations of the region.
