The course aims to introduce the topic related to the complexity in the conservation of Cultural Heritage systems, considering not only the materials, but also the interaction with the environment (indoor-outdoor), and the use of the goods. In the course, methods for the evaluation of the state of conservation of CH, and materials and methods for the conservation of the CH will be analyzed, in consideration of the most current approaches. Scientific approaches are discussed within theoretical frameworks and also within practical applications (cases of study), in particular relating to the city of Venice.
The course will provide theoretical and practical basis on methodological aspects and good practices in conservation of cultural heritage (architectural, artistic and archaeological), throw a general approach, associate with infield experiences. The course will provide specific tools to develop interdisciplinary research on Cultural Heritage conservation and propose specific projects for the preservation of the goods concerning the specific environmental conditions. The student will learn to critically evaluate the current methods of intervention, also considering aspects such as the sustainability of the intervention itself and the compatibility with the building
