The course is one of the basic training activities of the degree course in Environmental Science and allows the student to apply the main concepts and laws of chemistry, acquired within the GENERAL INORGANIC CHEMISTRY AND LABORATORY course to the resolution of stoichiometric problems.
Students should be able to solve chemical problems and to evaluate the logical consistency of the results obtained by applying the learned laws.
Basic knowledge of mathematics and algebra (first and second degree equations, logarithms and exponential)
Molecular mass, mole. Chemical equations. Gravimetric calculations. Chemical equivalent. Solutions and their laws. Colligative properties. Chemical equilibrium: equilibrium constants, homogeneous and heterogeneous systems. Equilibria in the aqueous phase, acids and bases, pH and its calculation, buffer solutions, product of solubility. Redox reactions. Numerical exercises.
