The educational objectives of this course consist in introducing methods for interpreting crises and transformations of contemporary society, in addition to identifying both their problematic issues and the ways to use the most suitable historical sources for social history. Students are therefore led to recognize the factors of various social phenomena, to grasp the characteristics of the mentality of an era and to elaborate patterns of social interpretation of an event or historical period. Approach to the use of certain sources for social history research.
No prerequisite required, beyond the general knowledge of the phenomena of modern and contemporary history.
Crisis of the ancient regime, emergence of the first industrial revolution and transformation of social protest.
