The teaching falls within the basic teachings of the three-year degree course in History and it aims to provide students with the first methodological tools in the historical documentary field.
The graduate can apply the methodologies of disciplines related to historical studies in specific cases and at the basic level. He knows the fundamental notions of the disciplines and the techniques of reading the sources. He knows in depth the different types of sources for historical research.

The graduate knows how to critically use the main tools for finding information. He can use the basic tools necessary for the enhancement of historical and cultural heritage. He knows the different types of sources useful for historical reconstruction and he is able to interpret them in depth and effective way.
The student should have a basic knowledge of the Latin language.

The exam is done through an oral exam. During the oral examination the student must demonstate knowledge of the arguments put forward during the course and knowing to expose formally.
