General objective
The aim of the course is to examine the role of Language Teaching in Language Education by exploring it from a theoretical abstract point of view as well as from the more operative concrete point of view.

Knowledge and understanding
The student will acquire basic knowledge and understanding of: theoretical principles of language teaching, theories of language acquisition and language learning; development of language teaching; culture in the teaching of languages, curriculum e syllabus design, language learning assessment issues.

Applying knowledge and understanding
The student will be able to make connections between theory and its implications for practice by consulting and evaluating teaching materials, exercises and tasks.

Making judgements
The student will be able to interpret and evaluate the importance, for effective language learning, of various aspects dealt with on the course.

Communication skills
The student will be able to comunicate information, ideas, problems and solutions clearly and unambiguously.

Theories of language acquisition. Methods and approaches. Language skills. The role of grammar and lexicon in language teaching. Culture in language teaching. Evaluation and assessment.
