The course offers students the opportunity to deepen the issues related to social research with particular reference to data analysis through the use of basic statistical techniques and the use of programs for the elaboration of data.
The student should be able to know the main methodologies and techniques of social research, the issues related to this theme, how to organize a survey and analyze the collected data.
No teaching is given as a prerequisite. A minimum of knowledge of the area of interest and a strong motivation are essential to achieve the objectives of teaching.
- The research process: problem identification, research phases, measurement
- The investigation process and its research methods: sampling, survey techniques, questionnaire preparation, interviews
- The process of data analysis and interpretation: coding, analysis and presentation of data, interpretation of results and reporting

The examination for those attending will consist of the presentation and discussion of practical research work (by groups).
For those not attending the discussion will focus on the reference texts (it is recommended to agree with the teacher which chapters will be in particular required).
