The course "Cultural anthropology, introduction" is inserted as a compulsory exam in Conservation and management of cultural assets and activities. The aim of the course is to develop capacity for reflection on cultural diversity and to provide basic theoretical and methodological tools for cultural anthropology. The course pays particular attention to the main themes of the anthropological approach and outlines the basic methods for conducting ethnographic research.
Attendance and active participation in the course (lectures, written exercise) and individual study of the exam materials will allow students to:
1. know the anthropological theories and methods applied to the study of different social phenomena
2. know and appreciate the cultural and social complexity of other companies
3. avoid judging other companies and groups by applying their own cultural categories and learning to reflect on their own assessments, practices and representations
cultural that are taken for granted
4. learn technical vocabulary and anthropological terminology
5. knowing how to take notes and summarize topics and ideas learned during the lessons and in the preparation of the examination material.
The course does not require prerequisites.
In the course the students will have the opportunity to deepen concepts such as those of culture, race, ethnicity, globalization, power relations, kinship, diversity, identity, sex and gender, tribes and gangs, cultural relativism, religion and spirituality. Students will also find themselves applying these concepts to the study of the work of some contemporary artists.
Students will have to bring an introduction manual to cultural anthropology (still to be defined) and some chapters from the book "Destinazione mondo" by Valentina Lusini.
The final exam will take place in written form and will consist of answering three open questions on the topics covered, taking into account the reference texts and the notes taken in class
Frontal lessons, power point, vine of audio-visual material and collective discussions in the classroom.

This course is intended exclusively for students of the three-year Degree Course in Conservation and Management of Cultural Heritage address History of Art. There are no letter partitions by last name.
