The course allows the student to complete the specialist training provided by the course of Organic Chemistry 3 and Laboratory, in the specific discipline of asymmetric synthesis.
The objective of the course is to furnish an appropriate knowledge of the chirality phenomenon.
Effective and modern synthetic techniques aimed to the production of enantiomerically pure organic molecules will be introduced.
Students will be able to choose the most convenient way of synthesis for the preparation of enantiopure organic molecules, in accordance with economic and environmental considerations.
In order to access the course, it is necessary to have a good understanding of the topics covered in the courses of Organic Chemistry 1 and 2 and Laboratory.
1 stereochemistry
2 optical and chiroptical properties
3 resolution of racemic mixtures
4 enantiopure products from chiral pool
5 diastereoselective reactions driven by chiral auxiliaries
6 enantioselective reactions
6.1 with metallic catalysts
6.2 with organo-catalysts
6.3 with enzymes
6.4 with microorganisms
