The teaching falls within the training activities of the three-year degree course CT60, which allow the student to tackle an analytical chemical problem in its various articulations and with consistent use of the current technical-scientific language. The specific training objective of the teaching is to provide knowledge on inorganic pigments and their reactivity n. The course aims to develop skills that allow students to design and implement the synthesis of a pigment and to be able to characterize it also in a student cultural asset.

i) evaluate the preparation of the pigments and the synthesis with particular interest in the quantitative study of the starting elements using the concepts learned during the first semester
ii) deepen the concept of reactivity and the logic of separation into groups for the identification of the elements used
iii) learn to keep a laboratory notebook

I) Knowing how to use the concepts learned to predict and logically interpret the chemical-physical properties of a pigment
II) Knowing how to propose coherent and feasible syntheses of inorganic pigmant compounds
3. Communication skills
I) Knowing how to use the appropriate scientific-technical terminology and symbology for discussing the course contents.
II) Knowing how to interact constructively with the teacher and other students.
have done the general chemistry exam
In relation to the training objectives and expected learning outcomes, reported in the relevant sections, the course contents can be divided as follows:
I) Preparation of inorganic pigments
II) study of cationic analytical groups (in particular the I and III groups)
III) study of anionic analytical groups
IV) spot tests for the quick identification of elements and any interference

I) Bevilacqua, Borgioli, Garcia, I pigmenti nell’arte,I talenti 20101
II) Peloso, Turco, Analisi chimica qualitative, Cortina
III) Lecture and laboratory notes and supplementary teaching material.

Verification of learning takes place through the analysis of unknown mixtures of elements, the report on assigned inorganic pigments, the evaluation of the laboratory notebook and possibly an oral interview
The teaching is mainly in the laboratory and the lectures are introductory and inclusive of comprehensive examples. The laboratory offers experiences of synthesis and characterization strictly linked to the contents delivered frontally. The presence in the laboratory is mandatory for at least 80% of the lessons and for the evaluation tests.
