The course is part of the main teaching activities of the M.A. degree in Asian and North African Languages, Cultures, and Society - curriculum China and will provide the students with a wider understanding of Chinese culture and literature.
The objective of this course is to provide the students with a general knowledge of the main literary genres, the most important works and the most influential authors from the late Tang to the contemporary era.
No pre-requirement
The course provides a general survey of the chronological development of genres in Chinese literature starting from the late Tang to the contemporary era through theoretical and critical lectures about the most influential works, authors and literary movements.

A list of poems chosen among those analysed during the lessons will be provided: these poems are to be studied for the exam in the original Chinese version.

Exam in written form with multiple-choice and open questions.
The course will be taught through frontal lessons which follow and integrate the content of the textbooks. On the moodle page of the course will be uploaded files containing the topics of the lessons, as well as further materials. All these materials will be useful for attending and non-attending students alike. The teacher will receive attending and non-attending students every week.
