Exercises: Reading the "Devisement dou Monde" in the MS Paris, BnF, fr. 2810.
A very important part of the literary tradition that is the object of studies in Humanities was transmitted, even after 1450, by manuscripts. This cycle of 10 exercises want to offer Undergraduate students the opportunity to experiment by themselves - and without the filter of a modern interpreter - what it means reading an ancient text directly from a ms. that has preserved it.
The content of the exercises is an integral part of the "Filologia romanza II" course.
Knowledge:
- basic knowledge of codicology and Latin paleography.
Skills:
- ability to correctly interpret the "littera" of a handwritten page.
The exercises include an intelligent and active attendance of the lessons of "Romance Philology II".
Direct reading on MS. fr. 2810.
The digitized reproduction of Ms. 2810 (downloaded from the "Gallica" website) will be made available by the Teacher.
The ability to read a few lines of a page of ms. 2810 will be verified during the exam of "Filologia romanza II". The test is oral.
The exercise will consist in the collective and individual reading of the text of the ms. 2810, according to traditional ways.
