The laboratory is directed to undergraduate students interested in the topics of port economics and management. It allows participants to be confronted to this topic and to understand the dynamics that govern the running and the development of ports.
The vision conveyed in the laboratory will be global, with a strong international focus.

The laboratory will be based on a close collaboration with industry and administration. Interventions will be made by Cà Foscari facutly and by world class experts identified together with ASPMAS (North Adriatic Port Authority).

The course will take place on the 4th period in order to allow sufficient time for students to perform a serious analysis of their elected topic of investigation.
The laboratory will allow students to develop their knowledge in the field of port activities. It will also allow them to develop their analytical capacity and their communication skills.
During the laboratory, participants will have to make a study of port issues following professional quality standards.
Only basic instruction in micro and macro are necessary to follow this laboratory.
There is no manual for this class. The topic elected by each group of students will direct them to the relevant litterature.
Some manual in English may provide a general framework, for instance:
- Port Economics, Wayne Talley, available in the economics Library. Very basic.
- Principles of port management, Peter de Langen, focuses on management and development issues.
