The course - as total 12 cfu course - is one of the main course for History of the Arts and EGArt.
For the EGArt course: this module is the second part of the teaching Contemporary Art sp (12 cfu), which is to be completed with Contemporary Art I (held by Stefania Portinari).
For the course of History of Arts: this module is the second part of the teaching History of Contemporary Art sp (12 cfu), which is to be completed with History of Contemporary Art I (Nico Stringa).
The course aims to deepen the themes of contemporary art, taking into consideration a specific aspect of the situation of recent decades: the collecting of contemporary art. Retracing the Italian story from the early twentieth century to the '60s, the aim is to investigate in a transversal way the emergence of a new taste related to new media (art galleries, magazines). The aim, therefore, is to broaden the scope of research no longer and not only to works but also to the commercial context that has to do with the knowledge and dissemination of 20th century art in Italy.
- knowledge and understanding: knowledge of terminology; knowledge of main artists' poetic and works of art, groups and movements in the field of visual arts on the program;
- ability to apply knowledge and understanding: knowledge of how to use a precise terminology and ability to recognize main artists and works of art specified on the program, formulating an explanatory and argumentative exposure about artists' works and poetics;
- ability to understand: how to analyze a work of art or an artist's poetry or a group / movement among the studied ones, relating them to a correct temporal and cultural collocation; to be able to argue with property of language and correct formal analysis;
- communication skills: knowing how to use an appropriate and specific terminology, introduced and explained at lesson or on recommended texts and books; apply a good Italian (or English) syntax and grammar; being able to behave in a respectful and profitable way with professors and peers;
Knowledge of contemporary art history from the end of XIX century to 60's
The course aims to develope the history of contemporary art from the sixtie's to the eightie's, the role of the collectors and the art systems
