The aim of the course is to connect the past with the present providing an understanding of the aspects of classical economics and its subsequent developments.
At the end of the course the student must be able to: 1) understand the differences between the various approaches of economic theory; 2) express opinions on various economic concepts.
Knowledge of the basic concepts of economics.
The course will cover the following topics:
1) Economic thought in antiquity;
2) Pre-classical economic thought;
3) Classical economists;
4) The institutional school;
5) Monetary macroeconomics and recent developments.

At the end of the course there will be a written and/or oral exam (method chosen by lecturer at the beginning of the course by mutual agreement with the students) ; the student must be able to answer on topics covered in class.
