This course will analyze the causes of differences in the labour market, but also in levels of education and in the profile of acquired skills. The course will offer theoretical and methodological approaches and tools for emprical research and for the institutional analysis which are useful in identifying gender differences in the work place and in educational choices.

None, but it is reccommended that students take this after teh first year enrollment
This course will be done jointly with Claudia Irti and Elena Meschi, it will analyze the causes of differences in the labour market, but also in levels of education and in the profile of acquired skills. It will look at well-known and established theories of "gender discrimination" in the labour market with a focus on the gender-gap in wages. The course will offer examples where differences in wages can be explained by the organization within the firm but also to the different levels of education and training. There will be a focus on "family and work", looking at policies which allow managing the different activities of women, particularly legislation and institutional features. There will be open discussion on economics and family, such as taxation and incentives to encourage parenthood, child care and care for family members.
