The Chinese language 2 mod.1 course is one of the main courses of the three-year degree course in Languages, cultures and societies of Asia and Mediterranean Africa and aims to provide students with basic tools and skills in the linguistic-translation field.

The goal is to be able to apply one's language skills and abilities in the context of the most common communication situations, as well as in the reading and interpretation of texts, so as to make it a key tool to start acquiring a solid knowledge of Chinese culture and society. .
Achievement of a level of linguistic competence equivalent to level A2 + of the CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference for Knowledge of Languages). In particular:
1. Knowledge and understanding
• Know the key phrases needed to interact in the most common communication contexts.
• Knowing grammatical and lexical aspects of particular importance in relation to nominal groups, the fundamental structure of the sentence, prepositional groups, different types of sentences and verb groups.
• Know a lexicon of about 1000 words and 800 characters.
2. Ability to apply knowledge and understanding
• Knowing how to correctly use the key phrases necessary to interact in the most common communication contexts.
• Knowing how to correctly use what has been learned on important grammatical and lexical aspects for the purpose of understanding written texts.
• Knowing how to use a vocabulary of about 1000 words and 800 characters in writing.
• Knowing how to translate simple sentences from Chinese and into Chinese using correctly what has been learned on basic grammatical aspects.
3. Judgment skills
• Knowing how to use the tools made available online to assess one's level of knowledge, skills and language skills.
4. Communication skills
• Knowing how to communicate the specifics of linguistic analysis, using appropriate terminology.
5. Learning skills
• Knowing how to relate the different study contexts and apply one's knowledge, skills and abilities for personal and professional growth.
1) Have an excellent theoretical and practical knowledge of the Italian language: be able to express oneself correctly both in written and oral form and master the tools of grammar analysis and logical analysis.
2) Having passed the Chinese language exam 1.
The course provides students with a comprehensive knowledge of the written and spoken modern Chinese language at an elementary level. Specifically, it offers:
• knowledge of important grammatical and lexical aspects relating to nominal groups, fundamental sentence structure, prepositional groups, different types of sentences and verbal groups: 30 hours of theory and practice;
• training in linguistic interaction in the most common communication contexts: 60 hours of exercises A (conversation);
small group conversation tutoring: exercises B.

Verification of learning takes place through a test consisting of two written tests to assess the skills acquired (grammar knowledge and oral comprehension skills). A facsimile of the test is available online at https://moodle.unive.it/ among the materials associated with the “Chinese language 2 mod. 1 Surnames A-C [LT007I] - prof. Wang Dongdong. The use of dictionaries is not allowed during the tests. To pass the test it is necessary to obtain a minimum score of 12/20 in the grammar test and 6/10 in the listening comprehension test: the test grade will result from the sum of the marks obtained in the two tests and will be expressed out of thirty.
The teaching is organized in:
a) lectures;
b) practical exercises aimed at building and consolidating the knowledge, skills and competences that the course aims for;
c) tutoring aimed at discussing and deepening the specific language problems that emerged during the course and related exercises.
