SPANISH LITERATURE 2

The course aims to offer a panoramic view of Spanish Golden Age poetry, from the point of view of the relations between literature and other arts (tapestry, music, painting, sculpture), e disciplines (cartography, science). For that, students will study 1) the principal esthetic ideas and concepts of the period, and 2) a selection of poetic texts, representative of Fifteenth and Sixteenth centuries.

At the end of the course, students must proof to know:
- The different poetical concepts and theories from Golden Age Spain, specially in its connection with art.
- The fundamental critical ideas for the literary and historical analysis from different periods.
- The development of the autonomy of critical judgment in the interpretation of texts, with the extra capacity of rielaborate bibliographical sources.
- The capacity of prepare comments of texts from Spanish Golden Age.

Two evaluation methods: 1) the elaboration of a brief paper on a subject related to the course (previous agreement with the professor, starting from an indicative list on Moodle), that must be presented both orally and written, and 2) a final oral proof (in Spanish), consisting of a discussion to evaluate the knowledge of the contents, and the analytical and critical capacities. It is also very appreciated the active participation of the students during the lessons.

The course will combine tropical and practical lessons: in addition to the lessons, the student must prepare the compulsory and integrative readings, in order to discuss critically during lessons. Many other critical materials will be available on the e-learning platform Moodle.
