The governance of common goods, very often, depends on the integration of different social actors, independents each other. A lot of European States have experimented new network governance approaches. These new approaches based on participatory processes, co-accountability, use of social research techniques useful to combine scientific knowledge, preferences and practices
At the course's end, students will be able to:
- recognize the complexity of local governance
- design the process of local planning
- involve the local actors in the process of planning and evaluation
- use mixed method social research techniques able to support participatory process

The exam will be about meta-governance and research techniques useful for the participatory process
The study will be done on texts indicated
The course will be done combining a practical and theoretical way. The first two weeks will be on theoretical issues and the other three weeks (second part) on the construction of local planning
The second part will base on the use of social research techniques able to manage the participatory processes
