The course is part of the base disciplines, curriculum of Archaeology, Bachelor's Degree programme in Conservation of Cultural Heritage and Performing Arts Management.
During the lessons, some detailed studies will be offered, in order to let the student acquire the tools for the study of ancient Egypt. These skills will contribute to the training in a wider context of historical-archaeological disciplines.
The course is integrated with Egyptology II, dedicated to the study of Egyptian written culture.
At the end of the on-line course, the student of Egittologia I will acquire basic skills in pharaonic Egypt, that are part of the disciplines relating to the curriculum Archaeology, and are connected with the disciplines of the Ancient Near East and the eastern Mediterranean.
A basic knowledge of the ancient eastern Meditterranean and the basic skill in the historical approach is requested. Attendance to the courses on the ancient Mediterranean and ancient Near East is highly suggested.

The course is totally on-line, organized in 5 didactic units; at the end of each unit, a test for the acquired skills is planned.
Written exam: Structure of the exam: 5 open-ended questions (average 0 to 30 each question) and 5 multiple choice questions (correct: 6; wrong: 0). Final grade: average of the 6 open-ended questions and the total of the grade from the 5 multiple choice questions.

For students of “Egittologia I” (Egyptology I: FT0055), “Egittologia II” (Egyptology II: FT0056) and “Egittologia” 12 CFU (Egyptology: FT0054): IT IS NECESSARY TO RESPECT THE SEQUENCE “EGYPTOLOGY I” AND “EGYPTOLOGY II” IN THE EXAM.
Students of “Egittologia” 12 CFU (Egyptology: FT0054) must Gli studenti che debbono sostenere l’esame a 12 CFU (codice corso: FT0054) register in the partial exam list, without verbalizing. The 12 CFU course (code FT0054) will be verbalized only after passing the second part of the exam (Egyptology II).

Students interested in the Ancient Near East may also choose:
History of the Ancient Near East, Assiriology, Archaeology and Art History of the Ancient Near East, Semitic Philology, Phenician-Punic Archaeology, Prehistory and protohistory of the eastern Mediterranean.
Graduation thesis: attendance and exams “Egyptology I” and “Egyptology II”; average grade not lesser than 25/30.
E-learning course. Students must remember that the whole course is on-line. Lessons are organized in five didactic sections, accessible on the web page at the bottom of the notice. Students are highly requested to be active in the forum and complete the tests at the end of each didactic unity.
Attendance to the course is necessary for the final exam (written).
