The course belongs to the basic teaching activities of the Bachelor's Degree Programmes in Philosophy, placing itself within the teachings of the historical-philosophical area. The educational objective of the course is to provide knowledge related to the history of philosophy. Particular attention will be paid to the concept of metaphysics as a privileged thread for the investigation of the history of philosophy. At the end of the course are expected students' understanding and knowledge about authors and problems of the history of metaphysics, as well as the ability to apply such knowledge in order to compare different philosophical theories, catching similarities and differences, and in order to be able to argue in critical way about the expounded historical-philosophical problems.
At the end of the course students should
1) demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the most important themes of the history of metaphysics;
2) have the ability to analyze in argumentative way the materials of the book of examination;
3) be able to communicate and discuss ideas and problems of the history of metaphysics.
Knowledge of the history of western philosophy (from its origins to Nietzsche).
1) General knowledge: phenomenology, ontology, and hermeneutics in twentieth century thought (Dilthey, Husserl, Heidegger, Sartre, Gadamer, Derrida).
2) Identity and Difference: Hegel and Heidegger.

The evaluation will be based on a oral exam. Students must demonstrate:
1) knowledge of the thinking of the following authors: Dilthey, Husserl, Heidegger, Sartre, Gadamer, Derrida;
2) general knowledge of the themes of Hegel's Science of Logic;
3) the ability to communicate and expound in their specificity Hegel's Science of Logic (Doctrine of Essence, pp. 433-495);
4) knowledge of Heidegger's texts about the Hegelian Philosophy.
Lecture.
A SEMINAR dedicated to the critical analysis of Hegel's and Heidegger's texts is held by dr. Antonioli ALL FRIDAY MORNING .from 10.30 to 12.00 a.m.
