The teaching is one of the characterizing training activities of the Degree Course in Society and Social Service Sciences and aims to provide students with the knowledge needed to understand the help process developed according to the methodologies of professional social service. The specific objective of the course is to offer the basic skills used in professional practice and necessary to consciously face the subsequent internship experience. To this end, the teaching aims to stimulate in future social workers a targeted attention to ethical and deontological aspects, in whose horizon to place the methodological issues learned.
Knowledge and understanding
At the end of the course the student will know and will understand the phases of the methodological process of social work and will have acquired knowledge relating to the main operational tools of professional practice.

Ability to apply knowledge and understanding
At the end of the course the student will have acquired the useful knowledge to experiment the methodologies of the professional help relationship, knowing how to recognize and critically observe the development of the help process in its various phases.

Judgment skills
The course aims to stimulate the student a reflective approach to the methodology of social work, through which to promote skills and technical skills constantly anchored to the human dimension of the aid process, also knowing how to distinguish the sense of personalized planning of interventions from a merely performance-based action.

Communication skills
At the end of the course, the student will have acquired a professional language through which he will be able to expose the contents covered in the course in a timely manner and discuss the main issues addressed with his own reflections. Through the group work proposed during the lessons, the student will also have refined their skills to relate in public, as well as to actively participate in the interventions proposed by colleagues.

Learning ability
At the end of the course the student will be able to critically consult the reference texts and the proposed bibliography.

Students will have to take a written test with open-ended questions relating to the topics of the course. The questions will be aimed at verifying the candidate's acquisition of theoretical knowledge, his ability to re-elaborate the contents treated and to link the various themes proposed.
The lessons will be mainly frontal, with presentation of the contents foreseen in the program, interspersed with re-elaborations in small groups on stimuli proposed by the teacher and subsequent return to the plenary. It is also foreseen the presence in the classroom of social workers who will discuss with the students on the topics addressed during the lessons.
