The course of Specialised and Media Spanish Translation is held in the second year of a Master's degree course with a strong professional vocation in translation and interpreting. The course aims to consolidate written translation methodologies, with particular reference to the problems of specialised translation between cognate languages (Spanish/Italian). The concept of specialized translation will be dealt with as an act of interlinguistic and intercultural mediation. The main objective is to enable students to deal effectively with the translation process of specialised texts from Spanish into Italian and from Italian into Spanish. Translating practice will always be accompanied by accurate reflection both on the linguistic level and on the contrastive and translatological one. In the light of this, the teaching will have a strong practical-applicative character, always based on modern contemporary traduttological theories. In line with the course, the metalinguistic reflection and the interlinguistic comparison will be two central aspects in conducting the course also from the point of view of the linguistic affinity between Spanish and Italian. The course consists of a semester module of 30 hours.
The course of Specialised and Media Spanish Translation aims to strengthen students' translating skills in the light of the theory, methodology and practice of specialised translation between Spanish and Italian, with particular emphasis on linguistic aspects in a translator-oriented key. In this regard, more specialised notions of modern translation theory will be provided and then all the strategies that the translator has available to conduct the process of interlinguistic transposition of sectorial texts will be explained. The expected learning outcomes are as follows:

- - To arouse reflection on the linguistic contradiction between Spanish and Italian in a transformative key
- Recognising linguistic difficulties in the translation of specialist texts
- Reflect on translation issues related to text specialisation and demonstrate awareness in the use of translation techniques
- Familiarize yourself with the professional practice of the work of a translator (for institutions or freelance) and learn about the deontology of the profession
- Get to know the online tools useful in the field of specialist translation

- Internalize the strategies and methodological principles on which the translation process of specialist texts is based
- Identify and solve translation problems through a process of analysis relating to the various types of text, with particular reference to specialist texts
- Ability to write a linguistic and translatological comment
- Knowing how to adopt translation strategies suited to the thematic and terminological specificity of specialist texts
- Know your way around a professional translation engagement.
- Know how to revise specialist texts.
- Know how to sight-translate specialist texts

- Knowing how to reflect on the role of linguistic contrasts between Spanish and Italian in a transluctological key with reference to specialized texts.
- Know how to critically comment on your own translation choices
