The teaching falls within the characterizing teachings of the China, Korea and Japan curricula of the "Languages, Cultures and Societies of Asia and Mediterranean Africa" course. Its educational objectives fall within the area of learning cultural and humanistic skills.
The course aims to offer an introduction to Southeast Asian literature in order to instil in students an appreciation for the rich cultural heritages and traditions that emanate from this region of the world.
Knowledge and understanding:
- Know and understand the political, cultural and social contexts of important literary works of Southeast Asia
- acquire awareness of the literary research methodology
- acquire the tools to deepen the appreciation of the literature analyzed in the course also in other courses of the CdS from other points of view (e.g. literary)
An open mind and desire to learn about other cultures and traditions
Introduction to Southeast Asian literature, with particular attention to the modern period
Particular attention will be paid to the great cultural, social and political transformations of the region.
