The course will furnish fundamental of calculus with particular reference to statistical and economical data. To this purpuse, the items of functions, optimization and matrix calculus will be focused on economical applications.
1. Knowledge and understanding:
1.2. understanding how the linear algebra models are useful to represent multi dimensional quantities
1.2. comprehension of basic concepts of calculus, like monotonicity and optimality, to represent, model and optimize economical phenomena
1.3 comprehension of basic concepts of dynamic system theory (discrete time).

2. Applying knowledge and understanding:
2.1. ability to use the concept of function and its properties
2.3. apply calculus tools to solve quantitative problems.

3. Making judgements:
3.1. understanding calculus amd linear algebra
3.2. reflecting on capabilities and limits of quantitative analysis.

A preparatory course in mathematics (Additional Learning Requirements, OFA) is organized for the courses of Mathematics. Moreover the course of Mathematics 1 is a necessary pre-requirement for the course of Mathematics 2.
The complete program of the course (12 cfu, 60 hours) is the following:

Matrix algebra and linear equations systems.
Functions and their properties. Derivatives of function and Calculus. Monotonicity and optimization.
Function with several variables.
Suggested book: Luciano Battaja, Appunti per un corso di Matematica. Other material will be suggested during the course.
Grading is based on two proofs. The first consists on a multiple answers test. If passed, the Student will access to the second proof, which consists on the solution of some exercices.
Lectures, room exercises, tutorials
All the necessary information will be included and updated before and during the course through a webpage.
