The course offers students the opportunity to deepen the issues related to social research with particular reference to data analysis through the use of basic statistical techniques and the use of programs for the elaboration of data.
The student should be able to know the main methodologies and techniques of social research, the issues related to this theme, how to organize a survey and analyze the collected data.
No teaching is given as a prerequisite. A minimum of knowledge of the area of interest and a strong motivation are essential to achieve the objectives of teaching.
- The research process: induction and deduction (population and sample concept)
- Univariate analysis: classification of variables, graphical methods, position indices, variability indices.
- Bivariate analysis: simple linear regression, Pearson chi-square test.

The examination for those attending will consist of the presentation and discussion of practical research work (it is possible to carry out the elaboration also in pair).
