The course aims to put students in a condition to acheive a competence in German language corresponding to B1 Level (European Framework of Reference for Languages), with special attention to the economic-commercial vocabulary (Wirtschaftsdeutsch).
Expected learning outcomes, with reference to the Dublin descriptors:
1) Knowledge and understanding: knowledge of German more or less corresponding to level B1 of the European Framework of Reference for Languages; understanding of written texts with economic content (microeconomics and macroeconomics);
2) Ability to apply knowledge and understanding: ability to use linguistic knowledge to produce written texts appropriate to academic and professional contexts.
3) Autonomy of judgement: ability to select and use reliable sources of information at international level written in German, such as websites dedicated to study and work in an international context; ability to select a bibliography of German texts relevant to the field of economics.
4) Communication skills: ability to communicate in writing by producing short texts in German (more or less corresponding to level B1 of the European Framework of Reference for Languages as regards grammar; corresponding to C1 level as regards the lexical content) which may be required in the academic and working world.
5) Learning skills: continuing the consolidation of language skills in academia and work, through the autonomous preparation of written texts; ability to develop autonomously those oral skills that the course, due to its brevity and the intrinsic difficulties of German, is forced to sacrifice.
German competences A2 Level (European Framework of Reference for Languages). All students (also those having no previous knowledge of German) are kindly required to write an email to the teacher, specifying the level they possess in order to determine the content of the lecture (how much German for Economics and how much grammar).
The course will develope and improve linguistic skills: most of all, written comprehension of the economics, everyday-life and work situations, and written production of letters or e-mails. German grammar structures in the texts and situations will be explored.
The text adopted is: Die OECD in Zahlen und Fakten 2015-2016", which can be downloaded free of charge at: https://www.oecd-ilibrary.org/content/publication/factbook-2015-de , also available in English: https://www.oecd-ilibrary.org/economics/oecd-factbook_18147364 .
The pages relevant for the examintion will be taken from this book. The text can also be purchased in paper format.

The writing consists of a grammar test of level B1 (without dinionario) and a short test of writing (with monolingual or bilingual dictionary).

Oral examination consists on a brief discussion on the topics selected by the teacher from the German economic text adopted. In alternative to the oral examination, students may choose a reading comprehension test without dictionary from the text adopted.
