Cultural Policies is an elective module, offered to the students of the MA EGART as part of the related and complementary activities of the study plan. It can also be chosen by other master’s degree students. The aim of the course is to provide a deeper understanding of the close relation between public administration and cultural programming.
Knowledge of public administration issues. Students will acquire skills that can enable them to enter in an open competition for the culture sector.
Knowledge of administrative procedures in the local cultural programming.
Ability to work on cultural calls.
No specific prerequisites required to access the course. However an interest in public administration and cultural affairs is highly recommended.
Introduction and discussion on cultural policies.
The role of the State in culture; Summary of the historical evolution of the protection and promotion of cultural heritage.
The Italian Ministry of Culture; Cultural heritage careers with a focus on Egart graduates.
Local Cultural Policies: concrete examples.
Management of public and private cultural services and institutions; Fundamentals of Italian Public Procurement Code.
Regions and local authorities: administrative bodies, legal deeds, and cultural affairs.
Regional Cultural Laws in Veneto and Emilia-Romagna, and their social and economic opportunities.
Administrative procedures, right of access to documents, and transparency for cultural programming.

Non-attending students: 100% oral exam based on the reading list
Frontal lessons integrated with the project lab and class discussions with references to concrete cases. The program includes mandatory sessions with experts in the field.
