The Chinese language module 2 is one of the main courses of the Master's degree course in Languages, Economics and Institutions of Asia and Mediterranean Africa (LAMAC curriculum) and aims to guide students to increase their linguistic skills. translation studies at an advanced level. In particular, the course aims to strengthen and consolidate students' ability to translate economic, commercial and legal texts into Italian from Chinese, and vice versa, as well as to develop methodological tools for linguistic analysis and interlingual comparison. The goal is to make it possible for them to apply their language skills and abilities in reading and processing texts that require knowledge of sectoral languages ​​relating to the fields of economics and (commercial) law.
Conversation courses will in turn be aimed at making students acquire the ability to discuss topics related to the world of economics.
1. Knowledge and understanding
1A. Know the basic linguistic terminology of translation
1B. Acquire skills in the analysis of language and its rhetorical devices, with particular reference to Chinese.
2. Ability to apply knowledge and understanding
2A. Knowing how to perform a linguistic analysis on different aspects of one's mother tongue and of the Chinese language taking into account the universal properties of language and the parameters of interlingual variation with respect to some specific phenomena.

3 A. Knowing how to formulate and argue hypotheses, also developing a critical approach to the evaluation of alternative hypotheses.
4. Communication skills
4 A. Acquire the ability to discuss topics related to the world of economics, law and globalization issues using appropriate terminology.
4 B. Knowing how to interact with peers and tutors, in a critical and respectful way, in the presence and on the virtual classroom forum.
5. Learning skills
5 A. Knowing how to take notes and share them collaboratively on the online platform.

He understands a wide range of complex and long texts and can recognize their implicit meaning. It expresses itself with ease and naturalness. Use the language flexibly and effectively for social, professional and academic purposes. He is able to produce clear, well-constructed, detailed texts on complex topics, showing a sure control of the textual structure, connectors and elements of cohesion.

The course is structured as follows:
- 30 hours of reading, analysis and translation of texts in Chinese on economic and legal topics.
60 hours of conversation in Chinese (A)
60 hours of translation from Italian to Chinese (B)
During the course both the Chinese texts to be translated and further bibliographical indications will be provided.
The exam consists of three tests:
Conversation in Chinese
Translation written in Italian from Chinese
Translation written in Chinese from Italian
The teaching is organized in:
a) lectures (dual or online);
b) practical exercises aimed at building and consolidating the knowledge, skills and competences that the course aims for;
c) tutoring aimed at discussing and deepening the specific language problems that emerged during the course and related exercises.
