The Fabliaux as a Philological Problem
The course aims to contribute to the development of knowledge and skills that are the objective of the course by addressing a philological theme. The manuscript tradition of the Old French fabliaux (13th-14th century) is particularly "active": the copyists freely elaborated the models they were copying, and in some cases also recorded the results of the oral performances of the jongleurs. The lessons will present the study of some particularly relevant cases, and a reconstruction of the cultural context in which the copyists of vulgar texts worked in medieval France.

Skills
