Students who want to access any further Latin examination at any level are required to have taken the Latin Lab test (level I for access to FT0435 and level II for access to any other examination).
Students are advised to take the Latin Lab test in the session prior to the examination term for which admission is sought: please contact the teacher for a timetable of available sessions.
However, attendance to Latin Literature classes is possible even before the test has been taken.

If needed, the Latin Lab also provides students who have to improve their knowledge of Latin Language with two different programs: Latin Laboratory I, first semester, basic level; Latin Laboratory II, second semester, intermediate level. Each program will end with a test session.
Good knowledge of Latin phonetics and morphology and of the most common constructions of Latin syntax aiming at translating Latin texts of different authors.
-Good knowledge of Italian grammar.
-Basic knowledge of clause analysis in Italian

The 'Latin Lab I' is in the first semester for a total amount of 40 hours.

Latin phonetics
Latin morphology
Latin syntax
Any grammar of the Latin language.

FINAL EXAM (3 hours)
-translation of a text from Latin into Italian, using the dictionary
-3 short exercises concerning Latin grammar, one focusing on declensions of nouns and adjectives, another one on verbs and the last one on comparative and superlative of adjectives or pronouns
The exam cannot be divided.


The course will be interactive with frontal lessons followed by exercises.
