The languages of Spanish poetry of the 20th and 21st centuries. As part of the related and supplementary activities of the curriculum of "European, American and Postcolonial Languages and Literatures - Literatures and Cultures", the course aims to provide students with a general knowledge of the historical-cultural context and literary production of 20th century Spain, paying special attention to the language of poetry of postmodernity and the multiplicity of influences and hybridizations with other arts and the digital change of recent years. The course also aims to provide the students with the critical and methodological tools necessary for the acquisition of ability to understand and analyze the text that foster autonomy of judgment. Lessons, reading, text analysis and exams will take place in Spanish in order to consolidate comprehension and communication skills in an appropriate language.
At the end of the course, students will have to demonstrate that they know:
- the features of contemporary literature in Spain;
- the political and cultural history of contemporary Spain;
- the fundamental critical notions for the analysis of literary texts, in particular poetry;
- development of independent judgment in the interpretation of texts and the ability to re-elaborate bibliographic sources;
- autonomous learning skills that make it possible to apply the acquired knowledge to study texts.
Knowledge of the Spanish language, Spanish history and literature of the twentieth century; ability to analyze and criticize the literary text.
The course will trace the essential lines of the cultural context that underlies literary production in contemporary Spain with particular attention to the poetic languages of the second half of the 20th century and the beginning of the 21st. The study of the salient features of the period that precedes and coincides with the Transition to democracy and of the new postmodern forms of poetic language will be accompanied by some in-depth studies on authors and works of particular importance and on the analysis of some hybrid and multimedia creation methods that have arisen in recent years. The analysis of passages taken from the works in the program and of anthological passages is foreseen.

Verification of learning takes place through a final oral test. The aim is to ascertain the skills acquired in the correct knowledge and analysis of the course texts. In addition, constant and active participation in lessons and any cultural activities indicated by the teacher is required to pass the exam.
The course will combine theoretical and practical lessons: in addition to the teacher's lessons, the student will have to prepare the compulsory and supplementary readings to discuss them critically during the lessons. Some critical texts and other materials will be available on the University's Moodle platform.
