With this course, I aim to iintroduce students to one of the most acute thinkers of our time: Emanuele Severino. More precisely, I intend to refer this author's thought to the lesson of the great classics of the History of Philosophy and critically address his ontological proposal and its implications in the field of practical philosophy.
NB: The author's production will be considered until the mid-nineties

At the end of this second part of the course, students should be able to (a) distinguish the valid elements from the sophistic ones in Severino's philosophical proposal; (b) recognize and value the argumentative modes of his discourse; (c) refer the author's thought - both in the sense of continuity and discontinuity - to the great western philosophical tradition.
.There is no particular pre-requisite other than a general knowledge of the history of philosophy.
General title: EMANUELE SEVERINO AND PRACTICAL PHILOSOPHY.
Part Two: PRACTICAL COROLLARIES
1. Freedom.
2. Intersubjectivity and language.
3. Potentiality, praxis, technique.
4. Necessity and morality.
5. Poblematicity, problematicism, faith.

The preparation will be tested through an oral test. A single exam (45 minutes about) is provided for those who need to acquire the 12 credits. The report held in class will be considered in the overall assessment. Students will also have to prepare a written paper of about 5 pages in view of the exam. The paper - agreed upon with the professor - will deal with the historical-philosophical study of one of the themes of Emanuele Severino's thought. A brief presentation of the written paper will be an integral part of the exam.
The course will based on head-on lectures, enhancing students’ contribution. In addition, some seminars - held alongside the course - will aim to deepen the above-mentioned contents and to prepare students to keep a report on one of those contents. The topic must be agreed with the seminar leader.
