The course offers students the opportunity to deepen social research issues by examining mainly quantitative qualitative approaches and techniques, with particular focus on evaluation methods.
At the end of the course the student will be able to design a questionnaire for the data collection and to carry out simple statistical analysis to interpret the collected data useful to prepare a report.
No teaching is given as a prerequisite. A minimum of knowledge of the area of interest and a strong motivation are essential to achieve the objectives of teaching.
Part I: Design of the statistical survey in the social sciences:
- contents and stages of the statistical survey
- sampling techniques: target population and sample
- interview techniques and questionnaire
Part II: Data analysis
- organisation and synthesis of data
- association and dependence measures
- statistical modelling
