The course belongs to the area of economic and business disciplines. It aims to offer students knowledge and understanding of the main economic facts and dynamics related to tourism systems and their developments through the analysis of the interactions across key actors in the tourism market.
The course goal is getting students acquainted with the methodological tools needed to understand and interpret the dynamics of tourism-sector activity. The main relations with the micro and macroeconomic context as well as with the sustainability of development will be presented.
In particular, at the end of the course the student will be familiar with the basics of micro and macroeconomic analysis applied to tourism, will be endowed with a good knowledge of the role of the tourism within the broader context of economic activity and wealth production, will be able to understand the main dynamics of tourism demand, supply and of their interaction in the tourism market. A particular emphasis will be placed to the connection between tourism activity and environmental and sustainability challenges.
No pre-requisite, however a basic knowledge of maths (graphics and functions) can enable an easier understandig of some of the topics addressed during the lectures

Written exam consisting into two open questions on the theoretical and applied topics developed during the lectures.
