Teaching characterizing the degree course in Conservation and management of cultural heritage and activities, addressed to those enrolled in the courses in "Performing Arts" and "Management of cultural heritage and activities".
First division (from 6 credits) of a teaching of 12 credits; the second partition ("ELEMENTS OF CONSERVATION AND MANAGEMENT OF CULTURAL HERITAGE, Prof. Cupperi) is offered in the second period; the final single grade comes from the average of the results obtained in the two courses.
Learning key concepts related to the museum as an institution: history, critical debate and functions.
Knowledge of the historical path that led from the first public or private art collections to the contemporary museum.
Knowledge and critical reading skills of a museum and its display.
Deepening of the exhibition dynamics from a historical and typological point of view.
To make a critical judgment on the setting up of museums and exhibitions.


A basic knowledge of western art history would be desirable.
The Museum as Institution and the history of display from Middle Ages to the twentieth century.
The combination of Museology and Museografia puts into practice the terms of a double relationship, on the one hand between exhibition space and its historicization, on the other between theories and practices for the exhibition.
Accompanied by specific characteristics in every era, the combination recalled will witness an evolution of no return in the twentieth century, both thanks to the contribution of museographic architects, and with the renewed exhibition needs of private collections aimed now at becoming public spaces.
For a meaningful framework of the issue and an understanding of its dynamism, from the ancient to the contemporary, Venice is a privileged observatory.
The course ends with a laboratory section coordinated by the teacher.

Attending students

For attending students, the final grade comes from the sum of three components, which are:
1. active participation in lessons;
2. the evaluation of a seminar presentation in the classroom;
3. the evaluation of the oral exam.

1. Active participation in the lessons is:
• the demonstration of an intellectual curiosity with regard to the discipline and the topics covered;
• participation in the debate requested by the teacher.

2. The evaluation of the seminar presentation in the classroom (as an individual or in working groups based on the number of students enrolled in the course), will take into account:
• Originality of the proposed theme and its treatment;
• Use of bibliographical, documentary and digital resources sources;
• Effectiveness of the exhibition through the use of presentation tools.

3. The final oral exam is aimed at verifying:
• The acquisition of disciplinary content;
• Mastery of a specific lexicon;
• The ability to argue and critically rework content;
• The maturation of an overall vision of the discipline.

Non-attending students

Non-attending students are evaluated only on the basis of the final oral exam.

Seminar lessons in the classroom through the use of digital teaching tools;
Synchronous use of types of study and research material.
Critical reading and commentary of primary sources in the classroom.
Field visits (based on health situation and number of enrollees, even outside class hours)
