The course is aimed at achievement of some essential knowledges about philosophical anthropology, according to the ministerial guidelines for the 24 CFU path (L.D. 13th April, 2017, n. 59). The main topics of the course are: the concept of human being, the concept of person; the human desire and human needs; the relation between nature and culture, with a particular focus on the theory of evolution.
Upon the completion of the course students will be able to (Dublin descriptors):

1) Know and understand the essential characteristics of the main anthropological theories and the bond between nature and culture, in connection with the theory of evolution;

2) Apply the knowledge and skills acquired during the course also in some cases study relating with scholastic context;

3) Make critical judgements on the main issues of the course and justify them, by means of critical reason;

4) Comunicate accurately and in a personal way the contents of the course, using the specific language.

5) Continue the path begun during the course indipendently, by means of the course material and the bibliographical references,
There are no specific requirements for course attendance.
The main contents of the course are:

1) The concept of human being and the concept of person in the history of philosophy
2) The nature of human desire and its relation with human needs;
3) Rationality and human passions: some philosophical patterns;
4) Nature and culture: philosophical patterns and theories;
5) The theory of evolution and philosophical anthropology

A final written exam, to be completed in 1 hour, with four open-ended questions, which allow to give a free-form answer.
