The course is intended for beginner students. The first lessons will offer an introduction to the Greek language (alphabet, phonetics and pronunciation rules, grammar, simple texts with basic vocabulary). During the course, students will be able to practice the language through texts associated with everyday life and poems for a first approach to Neo-Greek literature.
The expected result is that students will be able to make use of all four language skills (listening, speaking, reading and writing) and develop their skills in each of these areas. At the end of the course, students should reach an A2 / B1 level of the Common European Framework of Reference.
Knowledge of ancient Greek is not required.
The aim of the course is to help students learn expressions in greek; ask and answer questions; communicate and learn how to exchange information on various topics (personal data, family, habits, sport, study, work, cinema, theater, apartments, advertisements, directions, pets, local geography, travel and means of transport, vacation, media, computers, etc.); describe in simple terms people, photos, villages / cities etc .; be able to tell a story and write a letter/email. Another important point is the use of grammar (articles, nouns, adjectives and adverbs, pronouns, verbs). In case of students interested in the diachronic character of Greek (from ancient to modern Greek) we will try to focus on it. The course also aims to put students in contact with Greek literature, history and culture through poems and songs.
