This course concerning the life and works of Giacomo Casanova (1725-1798) starting frrom the Venetian origins, his travels and adventures, his historical and literray works. History becomes an instrument to study: 1) the concept and the political use of cosmopolitanism 2) the historical development and function of travel, mobility and liberty during the 18th century.
Good knowledge and understanding skills applied to the international relations, to the comprehension of the concept of mobility in historical perspective, as well as to the planning of the presentation of own studies and working hypotheses
Good knowledge of global history.
The course will explore idea of cosmopolitanism and cultural mobility during the Old Regime, as well the biography of Giacomo Casanova.
